buying your home

Common Home Inspection Tests

Termite inspection may also be required before a home is sold. The seller normally pays for this service. You can also pay to have the home tested for radon gas, mold and mildew, lead paint, and other health hazards. If issues arise during the inspection and testing, how does this affect the purchase of the home?

  1. The home must be put back on the market for someone else to buy.

  2. The buyer can ask the seller to lower the price, or make necessary repairs, before purchasing the property.

  3. The seller receives a large fine which will be deducted from the buyer's earnest money.

The correct answer is "B". As the buyer, you can use these issues to negotiate a better price, or ask the seller to make repairs before you purchase the home.
